ROOTD: Kira
Today's ROOTD features my friend Kira, who is an eventer and coaches her local middle and high school equestrian teams as well. I LOVE this monochromatic look, especially her breeches from Dublin. The cobalt blue is stunning and a classic color that will never go out of style, and are full seat to provide the support she needs while riding. Both her One K and Tredstep boots where chosen for there style, comfort and function. Her best accessory is hands down her two pups, Xena (left) and Jaeger (right).

Today I'm finally kicking off the ROOTD (Riding Outfit of The Day) series! The outfit I'm wearing is perfect the early days of fall, and one that I love because it's INSANELY comfortable. It's also an outfit that I can wear to the barn, ride in, and then go run whatever errands I have. Below I've listed exactly what I'm wearing and where you can find each of these items. Top: The sweater is from the LOFT and while they don't sell this one anymore you can find a similar one here. This top works for me because it's lightweight, warm, and loose enough
Riding Playlist: Katie
Music has the power to transport us and create a timeline for important events in our lives. Today's riding playlist was created by last week's featured rider, Katie. It features songs that she associates with the journey she's been on with her mustang mare and horse of a lifetime, Sally. If you want to read more about Katie and Sally's adventures head over to their blog at: https://sallythewonderhorse.wordpress.com/ https://open.spotify.com/user/12124293983/playlist/26FhIPf43kJmSIiEil8Bm8?si=ZE8bscxTRcKy-3Fx1NDK8A

The Yearling Chronicles: September 2018
Some days are a challenge and today was one of them. Basilio reinjured his right eye earlier this week, he has a corneal abrasion on the inner corner right underneath his lower lid. Up until today he's been a champ about getting medicated, dealing with getting eye drops and ointment 4 times a day, and getting bute for the inflammation. It's a lot for any horse let alone a young one, and today my yearling who has been sweet and calm as can be got sick of it and I can't say I blame him. And while I wasn't pleased with the temper

Listening to music while I'm riding is one of my favorite things to do and a super easy way to pass and keep track of the time when you're working on an aspect of riding/training that isn't your favorite. For me that would be any sort of conditioning, give me lateral work over building endurance any day! Here's what I'm currently listening to, feel free to send me any suggestions you have! https://open.spotify.com/user/12124293983/playlist/17qOYsaqegc3iOnSWFe8Zs?si=EO9u0m6TQpGDyQuKzo8JPg

The Yearling Chronicles: September 2018
Last year when I moved back home my parents surprised me with Basilio. Basilio is a PRE gelding, and he just turned one in July. The past year with him has been filled with a bunch of memorable experiences. Watching him grow and develop has been an amazing adventure that I'm excited to continue. This month we're working on a few key skills that will help set him up for his future. Increasing our duration in the stall: Currently Basilio is turned out 24/7 in a 4 acre pasture, which he absolutely loves. The great thing about this is that he gets

Since I would never ask anyone to do something I wouldn't do this week's post is about my journey as a rider, and how having an off the track thoroughbred has shaped me a dressage rider.
Welcome!
Hi There! Today I'm relaunching this blog with the intentions of cataloging my training journey, and chronicling the stories of the horsewomen and men who create our riding community. In 2012 I started this blog after a friend suggested that it would be a good way to track the progress I was making while training my off the track thoroughbred. So I started Chetak Horses, the old title was 'Warrior Horses in The Making' and the first thing I wrote is something I still believe today and hold in my heart. "Horses are the warriors of my heart. They keep me true and honest
