This blog is dedicated to chronicling the stories and unique experiences of individuals that make up our diverse riding community.
Whether you ride Western or English, for fun or competitively, have no horses or a whole herd, we believe that every person that creates our equestrian community has a story to tell and voice that deserves to be heard.

October 2018

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkW_nORc_4U&t=1s Today we're talking to dressage rider Heather about how having an unconventional horse shaped her riding and the advice she has for anyone who wants to build a business around their passion for horses.  You can follow the rest of Heather's journey at:  https://www.facebook.com/dufourdynamics/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMFJHcd9OTQ&feature=youtu.be This week's rider profile features my friend Jill, who is a Western Dressage rider, about how her current horse Harlan has shaped her riding and the advice she has for anyone who is looking to move forward with their goals.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QK10Vh--Rk&t=3s Today's rider profile features 4-H judge Laura.  I loved listening and talking with her about her deep love of horses and hearing about the responsibility she feels as a judge towards competitors.  More than anything though Laura reminded me of how lucky equestrians are to have the privilege of doing what they love everyday and how important it is to remember that.

Today's rootd is from featured rider Katie.  The brightly colored light layers are perfect for fall in the midwest!  The Eddie Bauer vest and Wrangler jeans provide the comfort and versatility she needs on the trail and in the barn.  Of course having a cute dog to accessorize with doesn't hurt!  You can follow Katie and her mustang, Sally, on their blog at:  https://sallythewonderhorse.wordpress.com/

Fall Goals 2018 Since fall is in full swing I decided to sit down and sort out the goals that Achates, Basilio and I should be working towards.  This is something I used to do when I first got Achates, and while I didn’t keep it up, it was always helpful to have something written down so I could reflect on it later. Achates: My main goal for Achates is to get him road safe.  While I don’t plan on doing any competitive trail riding soon, I would really love a way to enjoy the great fall weather and get a break from arena work
