This blog is dedicated to chronicling the stories and unique experiences of individuals that make up our diverse riding community.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nWOyyBAo9E This week's profile features portrait photographer Emily Annett, who officially launched her site this week!  Earlier this Fall Emily took some great pictures of Achates, Basilio and me.  I knew that any image Emily took would be amazing, but what impressed me most was how much passion and drive she has for her craft.  She was also ridiculously patient when it came to wrangling 2 dogs and 2 horses :)  More than anything I appreciated that she made me feel at ease throughout the whole process, being in front of the camera isn't my favorite, but Emily made the process fun and

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkW_nORc_4U&t=1s Today we're talking to dressage rider Heather about how having an unconventional horse shaped her riding and the advice she has for anyone who wants to build a business around their passion for horses.  You can follow the rest of Heather's journey at:  https://www.facebook.com/dufourdynamics/

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMFJHcd9OTQ&feature=youtu.be This week's rider profile features my friend Jill, who is a Western Dressage rider, about how her current horse Harlan has shaped her riding and the advice she has for anyone who is looking to move forward with their goals.

This past Thursday the boys and I got our pictures taken, it's something I've been wanting to do for a long time and have either been putting off or just never got around to. Our photographer was Emily Annett and she did and AMAZING job!  She is a great portrait photographer who will take the time to listen to what you want, be kind, patient and put you at ease if you're feeling awkward in front of the camera.  And while all that is wonderful, she also has a way of portraying women as strong and beautiful without losing what makes each of

It's October now which basically means that everyday is Halloween at this point :)  And since I'm a HUGE Harry Potter fan I wanted to showcase an outfit that has some fun nods towards the series. With cooler weather approaching this Gryffindor varsity jacket.  It's lightweight and the hoodie makes it perfect for foggy fall mornings and the cooler nights.  The t-shirt I'm wearing is one of my favorites and has a great quote from the sorting hat in Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone "Gryffindor where dwell the brave at heart their daring, nerve, and chivalry set Gryffindors apart".  While both of these

Today's rootd is from featured rider Katie.  The brightly colored light layers are perfect for fall in the midwest!  The Eddie Bauer vest and Wrangler jeans provide the comfort and versatility she needs on the trail and in the barn.  Of course having a cute dog to accessorize with doesn't hurt!  You can follow Katie and her mustang, Sally, on their blog at:  https://sallythewonderhorse.wordpress.com/

Fall Goals 2018 Since fall is in full swing I decided to sit down and sort out the goals that Achates, Basilio and I should be working towards.  This is something I used to do when I first got Achates, and while I didn’t keep it up, it was always helpful to have something written down so I could reflect on it later. Achates: My main goal for Achates is to get him road safe.  While I don’t plan on doing any competitive trail riding soon, I would really love a way to enjoy the great fall weather and get a break from arena work

Today's ROOTD features my friend Kira, who is an eventer and coaches her local middle and high school equestrian teams as well.  I LOVE this monochromatic look, especially her breeches from Dublin.  The cobalt blue is stunning and a classic color that will never go out of style, and are full seat to provide the support she needs while riding.  Both her One K and Tredstep boots where chosen for there style, comfort and function. Her best accessory is hands down her two pups, Xena (left) and Jaeger (right).

Today I'm finally kicking off the ROOTD (Riding Outfit of The Day) series!  The outfit I'm wearing is perfect the early days of fall, and one that I love because it's INSANELY comfortable.  It's also an outfit that I can wear to the barn, ride in, and then go run whatever errands I have.  Below I've listed exactly what I'm wearing and where you can find each of these items. Top: The sweater is from the LOFT and while they don't sell this one anymore you can find a similar one here.  This top works for me because it's lightweight, warm, and loose enough

Music has the power to transport us and create a timeline for important events in our lives.  Today's riding playlist was created by  last week's featured rider, Katie.  It features songs that she associates with the journey she's been on with her mustang mare and horse of a lifetime, Sally.  If you want to read more about Katie and Sally's adventures head over to their blog at:  https://sallythewonderhorse.wordpress.com/ https://open.spotify.com/user/12124293983/playlist/26FhIPf43kJmSIiEil8Bm8?si=ZE8bscxTRcKy-3Fx1NDK8A
